brooke USA's newest donor group
In 1934, it was one woman who improved the welfare of working equines for decades to come - Dorothy Brooke - the founder of Brooke, the world’s largest international animal welfare charity.
Filled with passion and gusto, Dorothy created a nonprofit that last year alone reached more than 2 million working equines, alleviating their suffering, as well as helping the people who depend on them.
Brooke USA was founded with the goal of introducing Americans to the plight of working equines and raising money to support international equine welfare programs.
Brooke's unique approach to sustainable equine welfare has ensured Brooke USA's support with an infusion of enthusiasm and resources. In a short time, Brooke USA has become a major contributor toward alleviating the suffering of working equines and ensuring a better livelihood for their poor owners.
In Dorothy Brooke’s memory, Brooke USA is proud to announce the creation of The Dots, a national women’s initiative to support Brooke USA, that carries on the legacy of our namesake.
The Dots are a network of dedicated women continuing the legacy of Dorothy Brooke’s compassion for working equines. They work to support the mission of Brooke USA, by pledging funds to ease the suffering of working horses, donkeys and mules in the world’s poorest communities.
The Dots are an exciting opportunity for dynamic women make a real difference in the lives of animals and the families who depend on them.
The group is a natural fit for Brooke USA, as many of the people who benefit in communities around the world are women who rely on their working equines to help provide for their families.
Like you, they want nothing more than to see their families thrive, their children attend school, and for every family member to have a good future. But most of them need assistance in caring for the animals on whom that depends.
When a working horse, donkey, or mule is unable to work due to sickness, injury, or death, it is women who especially suffer, as they have to do all the work that used to be covered by equines.
This leads women and children to a physical and health deterioration, loss of income, poverty, social discrimination (caused by poverty and lack of time to socialize as they have to work long hours).
It can lead to physical and psychosocial problems for children as they can’t play or spend time like other children of their age because they have to work long hours to support their family.
Families can’t afford to send their children to school if they lose the equines who are the backbones of their livelihood.
That's where Brooke comes in, through you.
Brooke provides sustainable, practical, scientifically proven programs that are centered in improving the welfare of their extremely hard working animals.
When you join The Dots, you allow Brooke to provide free training for animal owners, service providers, and entire communities, as well as providing free veterinary intervention when necessary.
The Dots members each pledge $1,000 annually to Brooke USA, to fund equine welfare programs across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Central America. In addition,
The Dots members are encouraged to recruit other passionate, dedicated women to join the group and support Brooke USA.
Yearly membership in The Dots includes: an annual silver charm to commemorate membership, an invitation to an annual garden party with a guest speaker from Brooke USA, a copy of Dorothy Brooke’s inspiring biography, and a listing with your photo on our Brooke USA website.
